
SOUTH AFRICA’S 3 HIGHEST PEAKS FIVE DAY TREK
Trek up South Africa’s three highest peaks Champagne Castle 3377m, Injasuthi Dome 3410m, and Mafadi 3452m on this spectacular guided Drakenberg hike. Four days and five nights of breathtaking Drakensberg views.
The start of the trek is at Injasuthi Camp at 1400m from where you hike towards Gray’s pass, the colossal peaks of The Sterkhorn, Monk’s Cowl and Champagne Castle tower overhead as you hike up the Mhlawazini Valley There are great views over the Mdelelo wilderness area. Using Gray’s Pass you’ll climb between The Dragons back, Monks Cowl and dramatic Cathkin Peak, all around are magnificent Drakensberg views. The highlight of the day is the summit of Champagne Castle 3377m and the astounding views over the escarpment.
The following day is spent hiking through the Lesotho highlands toward the Injasuthi Area, in the afternoon, you’ll ascend the summits of Mafadi, the highest point in South Africa at 3452m and then Njasuthi Dome 3410m the last summit in the trio of south Africa’s highest Peaks. The night is spent in a typical Drakensberg Cave if possible, otherwise in tents along the escarpment with captivating views of the Drakensberg. Descent off the Drakensberg is via Leslies pass with the last night’s camp at Marble Bath’s, a beautiful place for a swim before heading back to Injasuthi.
