Bistro’s, restaurants and crafts are plentiful in this tranquil setting.
You head South to the whale watching paradise of De Hoop Nature Reserve and Marine Protected Area. Porcelain coloured dunes perch above swirling turquoise ocean and the tidal pools teeming with life. George Peak and Cradock’s Berg are the iconic Outeniqua mountains that provide the spectacular background to the town of George. From the summits you’ll have 360 degree views of the Klein Karoo to the North, the Coastal plains reaching to the coast of George, Mossel Bay & Knysna and the dramatic Outeniqua Mountains. Relax after your peak hike in Wilderness, a festive little seaside town with vibey restaurants, gorgeous scenery and meandering rivers.
The tidal pools at Swartvlei beach are some of the most exciting and accessible along this stretch of the coast. They are great to spend time exploring at low tide as the clear pools trap starfish, octopus, young fish & a host of other sea creatures.
